Tottenham Hotspurs Mid Season Review 2020/2021

It’s been an eventful season for Spurs. Fans won’t want to remember that at one point of the season, they were sitting top of the table. This was made sweeter by the fact their bitter rivals Arsenal were making contingency plans for potential relegation battle.

Mourinho will have his excuses for why only two points separate the two sides them from their biggest rivals, but it will fall on deaf ears. The fans have lost their patience and want the Portuguese gone.

Weaknesses

Even though they boast a strike partnership that will go down among the best in the league’s history, they are over reliant on Kane and Son. When one of them is missing, they tend to suffer heavily.

In the past they had Lucas and Alli chipping in with goals but that’s not the case anymore. In fact, if you include Bale, Lamela and Bergwign too, they’ve only managed 2 league goals between the 5 of them.

January Transfers

The business done in the summer left fans encouraged. Shrewd business was done in getting Hojberg, Reguillon, Doherty and Lo Celso but Bale’s return to the club was the most anticipated. It’s fair to say that hasn’t gone well so far.

Mourinho wasn’t given the same backing this window, no one coming in. Dele Alli was heavily linked to a move with PSG. The move failed to materialize though and seem his days at the club are numbered.

Predictions

They have the squad to believe in a top 4 finish. However, the odds are against them managing to achieve that.

Will Mourinho still be in charge by the final game of the season? Will Kane and Son stick around another year if they don’t make the top 4? More attacking intent and desire is needed. The front two need support. They shouldn’t give up hope yet.
